I have no doubt some individuals tried to buy the emac in place of the imac but it could also be that apple has only procured a certain amount of the LCDs and now needs to stock all of the best buy stores and has to cut the low end models.

The imacs seem to be available everywhere but the macbook is out of stock all the time. MacMall, Smalldog, Amazon etc are all out of the Macbook low end right now.

I also think ibooks, which are still in demand and selling, have been completely discontinued because Asus who also builds the macbooks is oversubscribed. Ordinarily obsolete products still ship from the factory sometimes for a year. The ibook was just end of life'd, recently. It still should be available but is not.

Its just so easy for these reporters to say something is not selling as an excuse for this or that. From what I can see it seems like Apple is selling over double the macs that they have in the past. BTW how was the quality on your macbooks since those were early models?

BTW just to put it in perspective, HP/Dell sell about 5 million laptops per quarter each last I looked, and Apple sold 450K last quarter (from memory)
