Most of the people we have ever talked to in Victoria are nice, and not always do they agree with us. But, none of them have ever said any of the things to us that we sometimes hear from some of the Canadians here on SI.

Vancouver, on the other hand, while folks have been always nice, are more cosmopolitan, and worldly....THEY THINK! We like Vancouver as well, as it is beautiful, and has the flavor of what it must have been like in the Old West days.....

One time, in one of the restaurants, not by far the nicest one, but one that didn't let anyone in shorts, or bare feet we had a brash youngish (25ish) waiter who was that only in name only. We finally called the manager over, and had a discussion about who was overhead, and who was profit. Got a new waiter who was VERY nice, and a manager who was equally attentive .....

The expensive restaurants by in large has wait staff who always know which side of the bread is buttered where...and from whom <ggg>....

But that is true no matter where in the world you go.
