I don't think that sort of post should be dignified by anything other than a reproof for the action- it is wrong to participate in the discussion at all, since it encourages the act of importing other people's ideas to other fora. No one wants to be "defended" by someone with whom they generally disagree- and very few of us find even the defence of people with whom we agree adequate. We should be able to defend ourselves, and we should not be forced to defend ourselves in fora where we did not choose to participate. And I think the comment was disrespectful to this thread.
