The problem with a third party as I see it is that the system is skewed to prohibit its success. Take for instance New York that has made it almost impossible for any candidate to get on the ballot; candidates need the party system to make it. It is also in the psychi of Americans who identify with the two party system.

We need a unifying theme for the third or more party. How about a four party system. We can have the Authoritarian PArty and the Libertarian Party. The former would want government to control everything and the later would fight to maintain absolute personal freedoms.
