"a consortium re-examined the voting after the fact and found Bush would have won had the Gore campaign's counting requests been used"

True. But they also found that if a full recount was done, which the Florida Supreme Court wanted, then Gore would have won.

Rove sends his attorneys into FLA And there were no lawyers on the other side?

We could have gone a year without a newly elected president and been just fine.

Wonder if 911 would have pushed the election continuing election controversy off the front page.

One would have hoped. I will forever dislike Gore for capitulating way too soon to the rove war machine. The world might not be in the mess it is now if he were president.

"Anyone who opposes the president is unpatriotic, unAmerican, weak on terrorism, unpatriotic, unAmerican weak on terrorism. Terrorists are everywhere......red alert, read. Danger will robinson, danger!" We heard that crap for three years straight.

Actually its leftwingers who make most of the unpatriotic accusations - I get accused of being unpatriotic about every week or so on SI, for example.

Well good, because that's what I got for the 3 years between 9/11 and 2004 when even the right could no longer deny Iraq was sinking into chaos.

And now the mess in Iraq is reverberating around the world from Israel to NK. And your president is directly responsible. And don't come back with some ridiculous denial. He is the culprit that is causing the world to spin off its axis.

I don't blame rove alone........Americans were willing to buy into his message.

There you go. You might as well zero in on the real problem - from your point that is.

The real problem? You want to know what the real problem is.........the bush supporters don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. That's the real problem.

Now go get ready for the rapture!

If you continue to support the war in Iraq, that does make you unpatriotic. Why? Because the war is hurting the US plain and simple. How? Good Americans are dying and coming back messed up mentally for a cause that is not theirs to fight; it is messing with us both economically and democratically within the US and it is doing serious damage to the American image throughout the world.........in that order.

the alcoholic, fraternity boy who ditched his air force national guard unit, never saw a rice paddy and managed to finagle his way into the presidency.

Finagling must mean winning elections. Which he did both in 2000 (a consortium re-examined the voting after the fact and found Bush would have won had the Gore campaign's counting requests been used) and 2004.

There are numerous questions that go unanswered regarding both elections. There are serious doubts on the quality and legality of the voting. However, even if that were not true, Mr. Bush won by a very small margin. That does not mean you can ignore the wishes of the other half and do whatever you damn please as Mr. Bush has done. He is president of all the people and not just that half that voted for them.

And you do not have a right as president to start a war, and certainly not one that was done under false pretenses. He has extended the power of the presidency beyond what the Framers called for in the Constitution. And not on just this issue. He and his colleagues have worked diligently to undermine the check and balance system that our gov't is appropriately famous for and extend the power of the presidency beyond what the Framers considered desirable. For that reason and for others, the American democracy is under seige.

And then there is his incompetency which is so well heralded that its not worth discussing any more........its a fait accompli. Most Americans simply accept that fact.
