I agree with you, Rabbit Proof Fence does give a view from the other side. It's a great movie, but because of the way the aborigines are treated, and because of the history of their treatment, it's a hard subject for me. I find it hard to watch movies about slavery, racism, ethnic cleansing, oppression and torture- to mention just a few subjects that disturb me. Some of the stories are very profound, and many of the characters overcome the horrible circumstances they are initially trapped in, but I just don't find movies that deal with these subjects entertaining. I often feel I've been enlightened, but once is enough.

I can think of a few exceptions - i can watch Beautiful People over and over, because most of the really horrible things have happened somewhere else, and are recounted, rather than seen. But movies like No Man's Land, and Hotel Rwanda, and The Killing Fields I just don't want to see again. I also find it hard to watch children in jeopardy.
