Add to this VIX jumping today over 20%.

Oil is up wildly, but oils stocks are - regrettably - in the red, albeit slightly. Wonder what to make of it - will Oil pull back (short?) - or, will the stocks rally to catch up?

I finally got my chart posted:

rpi.edu

Am looking to make another attempt at going long on Friday. Am short overnight.

Just been reading comments in the Australian newspaper on Israel-Hizballah-Hamas... My general thoughts is that outsiders often don't understand the mentality. There is often a lot of hysteria, bluffing etc. which doesn't neccessarily mean the end of the world has come. One sign is that death tolls in this conflict are rarely very high compared to others around the world.

Similarly in politics in both Israel and the Palestinian Authority there is a lot of brinkmanship - ministers always threatening to resign or resigning and then coming back. In the US if you resign you resign, not so in the Middle East.

I'm not saying it is not a serious escalation but one always has to look skeptically at the developments.
