Saying Rink bears a lot of responsibility when all he effectively did was follow the procedures that were in place prior to his even becoming a moderator, is misguided and simply wrong. You just got used to the near absence of 'moderation' and liked it. That is fine. Many others, like myself, did not appreciate the low SNR that had developed due to the lack of moderation.

If you are upset at what happened, blame the rules, blame mas_, blame the nominators, blame those that voted for suspension, and don't forget to assign blame to yourself. But of those you should blame, Rink is the last one on the list with the lowest percentage of 'blame' ownership, IMHO.

BTW, the "popularity contest" and "get rid of the messenger" comments are red herrings IMO. I think there are plenty around that welcome negative comments, myself included. But when the negative comments (or positive ones, for that matter) are tied to uncivil behavior, it becomes very tiresome. Eliminate the uncivil behavior and your message is all the more heard.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, not that I expected otherwise. :-)

Regards,

JJ
