Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "It was the failure of the League of Nations to adequately respond to the threat of Nazism and Japanese Militarism that directly led to the second World War."

No, it was German and Japanese inability to understand the limits of their military power that led to the second World war. And it was Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and your inability to understand the limits of US military power that led to the invasion of Iraq.

Guns don't kill people. Idiots kills people.

<So the UN now has an army?> Yes, and we can chose to serve in it or not, but we are not and never will be the UN, nor will we have the authority to speak and act as if we are the UN. The UN was established to rein in the murderous arrogance of one state invading and occupying another state -- in the case of Iraq the failure of the UN was its failure to stop us from exercising naked aggression against Iraq and the Iraqi people.
