Evergreen Solar Receives $200M Deal

Evergreen Solar Gets $200 Million, 5-Year Contract to Supply Photovoltaic Modules, Shares Rise

MARLBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Evergreen Solar Inc. on Wednesday said it received a five-year, $200 million contract to supply photovoltaic modules to solar energy supplier SunEdison LLC.

Evergreen said the deal is its largest to date. The news sent the company's shares up 51 cents, or 4.8 percent, to $11.25 in premarket trading on the INET electronic exchange, from their close Tuesday on the Nasdaq at $10.74.

The photovoltaic modules will be manufactured at Evergreen Solar's plant in Massachusetts and at a new factory in Thalheim, Germany.
