LUV knows how to hedge & manage their fuel costs, as opposed to other airlines, which seem to know not a lot.

I fly LUV at least once a month and three months ago they cancelled the promotional fares on my flight which I have been taking regularly for five years, I think they are being selective in where to discount.

Mish:

No pricewar going on anywhere that I fly or stay. I travel for consulting at least once a month. Hotel prices (same hotel) up from 139 to 169 since January. Rental car up from 18 to 29 since January and plane flights up from 300 to 450 since January. Selective price wars, maybe, but I have yet to experience it.

Additionally, nearly every flight is full. It used to be in January/February that the flights were only about 2/3 full. Since April, everything I fly (east and west coasts) is 90+ full.

Interestingly, these prices and others that I pay (and pass on) are going up for just about everything. It will be interesting to see if the American Dollar is able to hold its value. . . . .
