There you go again, labeling things you do not understand and which you are too lazy to go research. There is a school of thought that, looking at worldwide successful suicide attacks in the last 25 years, considers them to be inexpensive and effective (about 50% of the time) means to moving troops out of an area.

Why are you going on and on and on about the UN? Rightwingers regularly diss the UN which is a bit of an improvement over your fear of black helicopters following highway distance markers to your Idaho compound.

Now, when Republicans are failing in Baghdad, you bring up the UN as a figleaf? Dubyette ignored the UN, he didn't want to go in the first place and was only pushed by Powell to do so, and then ignored it until he was in big trouble.

So now YOU ARE CRYING UNCLE TO THE UN. That's just too funny for words.

No provocation? Are you kidding me? What planet do you live on?

Israel holds Palestinians indefinitely and, unfortunately, their families see kidnapping as the only way to get their family members back.

It's a low level war that has been going on for centuries and shows no signs of abating. Let them kill each other if that's what they please but the USA should get US taxpayer money out of the region by ending reliance on oil. We should help for humanitarian purposes but we shouldn't be arming one side or the other.

It's a simple equation. It's not a pretty equation but it's simple.

Oh yes, this conflict makes it abundantly clear that neither the Dubyette admin or the Israeli government cares one whit about democracy.

Hawk

re The Israelis are going to do what they think they have to do

Yep. Just like they did when the Israelis attacked the USS Liberty and her crew in the 6-day war.

Very well said Hawk. But the world is already moving in the other direction. CW now is:

1. Israel started war with bombing. Totally forget the attack on the israeli unit and capture.
2. Hizbollah is responding with rockets on israeli cities. Alls fair in love and war.
3. Innocent Lebanese are bearing the brunt of the war and this is Israels fault.
4. Immediate cease fire demanded.

And its going to get worse for israel regardless of what shimon or bibi say on US TV. I knew this was going to happen because it always does. My question is whether there was a more limited or concentrated way the israelis could have responded. I tend to doubt it. The world would have been much happier if israel had invaded before softening up hizbollah regardless of how many casualties they took.
