The Iranian president said "Israel should be wiped off the map."

I say, "take him at his word." He said it, he means it, and he will act on it.

From what I've studied, two from three. He said it and probably does mean it... but unlike (say) the POTUS he does't have the power to get the country to act on it.

This may be why he's being allowed to mouth off as he does: it's a veiled threat from the Republican Guard, the relatively moderate and realistic elements, "look what attitudes will run the country if you don't let us prevail".
Not reformist or remotely desirable, mind you. But IMO they may well be going for the "people we can do business with" imprimatur to ensure their regime survival for another 30 years...
because the last thing we want is any less realistic government controlling Iran's oil and the Straits of Hormuz. Any more than we want the NW Frontier attitudes to run the rest of Pakistan.

I disagree with your premise, that the US has the power to stop Iran from using nuclear weapons against Israel.

Sure, the US has made clear that a WMD attack on Israel will be met with nukes. End of story.

Not that you care, but who has the power to stop Israel from using nukes against Arabs?

The Iranian president said "Israel should be wiped off the map." I say, "take him at his word." He said it, he means it, and he will act on it.

This is a lie. He did not say this.
