Not just war. Many "breaking news" stories are garbled, as the news media rush to get the story out. Then the story evolves over the next few hours and days as the facts are clarified.

The previous report that it was a UAV seemed rather odd.

Someone should tell Ollie.

He was on Fox last night displaying a small propeller, saying several times, "this is about the size of the propeller of the UAV that hit the ship."
