"Still you would think they would be less bold after being caught the first time. "

In the immortal words of the board of directors of the architectural control committee in a subdivision where we lived, "we won the election so we can do anything we want. Just like in Congress". At the time I thought it was outrageous. Clearly they didn't understand how Congress operated. But that was in the innocent time of the early 90s. As it turned out, those words were just prophetic. The seeds of Fascism are subtle, they are in the grassroots.

re: This shouldn't have been a surprise. After all, he was openly passing out checks on the floor of the House. Even DeLay was more discrete than that. He certainly is a believer in having the best government money can buy...

Still you would think they would be less bold after being caught the first time. I suppose since there was no real punishment, they figure they can do whatever they want. They are no longer scared of "the voters". That's very bad.

Exactly. That's why I am so worried. I keep bringing up cousin as an example of a thinking, intelligent, well educated person who loves what the GOP is doing even though he knows that they are crooks. I have to assume he's a crook too. Maybe that's why they are not afraid of the voters........they know the voters are co-opted as well.
