There's no "solution" to the fact that a substantial percentage of Muslims want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

It's a problem that can only be managed.

But who's arming Hamas and Hezbollah? They need to stop, and if they won't stop voluntarily, they need to be made to stop.

The only way Israel can survive over the long term is to find a political solution. They can do it now when they are at the height of their military advantage.

Unfortunately, it takes two (and in this case, many more than two) to get a peace deal. Dont you think that the Arabs know that both time and demographics are on their side? Iran might not get the bomb in the next five years but who is going to bet against them having it in the next twenty?

The biggest problem that I see isnt even the Palestianian or Israeli extremists....it is the fact that it is in the best interests of other countries in the region to never get a peace deal. Why would Syria/Iran ever agree to some sort of peace deal? They get to tie down the regional power in a never ending series of fire fights at very little cost. They can fund Hamas or Hezbollah to go kidnap a couple of Israeli soldiers and never pay the consequences.

There is no good solution here. If Israel widens the war, everybody pays a huge price. Right now, it looks like they are going to destabilize a nascent democracy which isnt in there long-term interests....but I'm not sure exactly how they are supposed to react to these attacks.
