Iran would not have started this without an intent to follow up.

Koan, Iran is a third world country thousands of miles away, what can they do to follow this up? If they are involved in this, they are just stirring the pot to get as much out of the west as possible.

It was funny yesterday in one of the news segments the reporter says "Iran is the culprit behind Hezbollah and what has happened in Lebanon, besides their desire to obtain nuclear weapons and wanting to wipe Israel off the map." Same reporter a minute later, "The G8 leaders have gathered and put together the most lucrative economic and political incentive package to offer Iran..." Talk about lots of carrots and no stick. Iranians are intelligent, they seem to have found the US with their pants down at the moment, they are stirring the pot to get as much they can out of the situation.

The leader of Iran wants to be the head of the middle east

That is nonsense, Iran is not liked in the middle east. What you forget is, Iranians are Persians and the rest of the countries there are Arab; Different languages, way of thinking and background.

has said many times he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the map

Big words from a powerless man. Middle Easterners talk a good talk, remember "Mother of all Wars." It was a training exercise for US troops.

Iran's head is an irrational man and there is no telling what an irrational man will do.

The guy is a nut case and he will be very dangerous if he obtains nuclear weapons, which leaves the world with no other course of action but to strategically destroy their nuclear facilities sometime in the near future.

I would like to see Gold rise on its own merits and not because of some conflict, it can reverse it's direction just as quickly when the conflict gets resolved.

koan, these positions are those that the US media, following the official line, would like you to believe. "They are crazy, we are righteous." Frankly I think Bush is just as crazy as Iran's leader. They are both religious loonies.

"Iran's head is an irrational man and there is no telling what an irrational man will do."

This statement is utterly ridiculous. He may be many things but he is not irrational by definition as he rarely states anything as opinion thus he may be lying or ill informed but he is not irrational. Bush, however, is completely irrational as everything he says is opinion and most of it is based on lies.

Iran is no threat to anyone, nor was Iraq. Iran has no choice now, they MUST go further and refine uranium for weapons the reason being is it is now evident that Bush wants a reason to attack Iran and is now trying to blame them for starting this with the capture of the soldier. Frankly this whole episode is starting to look highly suspicious in similarity to the Americans destroying the world trade towers as an excuse to invade Iraq and depose their former friend Saddam who was the only person able to keep all those animals over there from killing each other. The BEST solution for Iraq is bring Saddam back

Anyway it seems the world now hates Bush and the danger is they will all gang up on the USA now as they seem it as very vulnerable.
