There's a lot of space between aiming at busses full of evacuating families and guaranteeing that you never hit one.

Soldiers, combatants, and people who actually do the killing are not going to be that much different. My guess is that they are mostly young and have not had much time thinking about life and developing a philosophical view of the world. They know what side they are on. They know who the enemy is. And, if they are soldiers, their job is to go kill the enemy.

I don't think they will question whether the people they kill are actually guilty or deserve to die. Most of these kids are put into or just find themselves in these situations where they have to do this stuff. For the most part you can't really blame them.

Its the people behind big desk that set policy that cause these things to happen. Most of these people have never done the things they are asking the kids to do. Most of the time these people have a lot of power. Most of the time they have huge egos. Most of the time they have authoritarian personalities. Put all that together and you have a recipe for disaster.
