Agreed.

Maybe Iran sees today as their zenith with the world against their future nuclear aspirations.

I personally don't think this is wise. My impression is that both Syria and Iran think that the hand of the US is pinned and without US backing, Israel can be taken. I think they are wrong in that, Israel has a history of being able to defend against bigger forces than Iran or Syria can throw at them.

Actually, I have a somewhat different take.......I think the Arabs know that Israel is still the region's #1 military powerhouse and that it has the backing of the US to guarantee its power. Nothing has changed in that regard except for the fact we are preoccupied with Iraq and NK.

In the meantime, the asshole in Iran has been stirring up the pot, playing into Arab ego. That guy is dangerous not because he may have nukes but because he is a master at playing everyone. He makes rove look like a piker. Plus, he desires to be the leader of the Arabs even though he's not Arab and not Sunni. And that's his achilles heel because it ain't ever going to happen. He is Persian, Shia scum and he will always be Persian, Shia scum. As an aside, Condi needs to use that to her advantage.

Meanwhile, the more M. of Iran has confronted the US and the West the more the Arabs have taken notice. Then the whole Gaza kidnapping/bombing took place. That was the catalyst..........if a Persian, Shia scum can stand up to the US, Arabs can stand up to Israel. I think this whole attack is more about emotions than about logic........and that's what has me worried. That's why Israel's overreaction concerns me.........worse the overreaction is against a country that can't fight back. Do you know how much that infuriates the Arabs and diminishes the view of Israel in the eyes of the rest of the world? Israel looks like the 1000 lb bully.

And to add insult to injury......the asshole Putin calls for a ceasefire.......the smart thing to do at this very bad moment......and America's brilliant president says "no". If we get through this one, it will be a miracle.

The Arab countries are afraid of Israel. The have been since the six- seven day wars in the 1960s and 1970s. They know that Israel is the region's superpower. I think you are making a argument that doesn't exist.
