The British did not give the Zionists the land. They punked out from their duties to administer the Ottoman transfer to those on the ground there at the time. Part of it was the violent terror of the Zionists, some ineptness. The British knew what these foreigners aka Zionists had in mind and actually sided with the hapless Arab Moslems and Christians. The first item on the agenda of these violent Zionists was to be sure that a truly representative government of Palestinian Jews, Christians, and Moslems was established.
