"On a relative basis, it is certainly less of a threat than all out nuke war."

That is true. Didn't mean to imply differently.

"The fear of terrorism may slightly disrupt the world economy, but not terrorist acts."

The whole point of terrorism, is, well, terror. But even in less hysterical times, just a hint is enough to disrupts flights. Too much of that and the whole thing collapses. If not that, then an active campaign of pipe bombs, say some sarin in select places, etc. can cause chaos. If they can ever recruit people with programming savvy, hacking can be pretty disruptive.

But, you are right. A large part of their power comes from people jumping at shadows. If that can be removed, then their power is diminished. But that isn't in the interest of the Republicans, they can use this. The Democrats, well...

Come on man, you know better. The fear of terrorism may slightly disrupt the world economy, but not terrorist acts. These guys are nothing, fringe players with little power except the fear (terror) they create. If we are not scared, they have nothing.

I agree. Terrorists have been around since the beginning of time. They are a major pain in the butt but they are not likely to do significant damage to the global economy.

The only difference this time is that they attacked the US. How dare they??? Since the US doesn't have a lot of experience with terrorist attacks, its solution was to attack and occupy two counties which has only made matters worse.
