I'm puzzled. Many years ago, after the Reagan debacle in Lebanon, the US asked Syria to help. They did - and the raids from Lebanon against Israel slowed, even stopped for long periods.

Syria went on to fight with the US against Iraq in the first Gulf War. And helped with intelligence after 9/11. I wouldn't call Syria our friend, but they were working with us.

Of course last year, Bush asked Syria to leave Lebanon:

Syria obliged.

Now the violence starts again - and Bush is blaming Syria?

How dumb is Bush? Or is he trying to bring on the 2nd coming?

On to Russia: Bush apprears to threaten Russia ...

whitehouse.gov

PRESIDENT BUSH: ... I talked about my desire to promote institutional change in parts of the world like Iraq where there's a free press and free religion, and I told him that a lot of people in our country would hope that Russia would do the same thing.

I fully understand, however, that there will be a Russian-style democracy. I don't expect Russia to look like the United States. ...

PRESIDENT PUTIN: We certainly would not want to have the same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, I will tell you quite honestly. (Laughter.)

PRESIDENT BUSH: Just wait.

WTF?! "Just wait."???
