Though I don't disagree with you that the Middle East is a bigger mess today than it was when Bush took office, I don't think it's fair to blame him for all of that. A big part of it, sure. It's not as if he has helped the situation any. But there are plenty of nutcases in the Middle East who have dedicated their lives to making things worse, and their efforts should not go unacknowledged.

I think the leadership of Israel actually does want peace and stability in the region, though they seem incapable of consistently acting in such a way as to help bring that about. And I'm certainly not saying that it would be easy for them to do that.
