I don't use the boards there often, but have they ever supported the concept of an Inbox? In other words, how does one know if someone has responded to one of their posts? And, I assume they don't have private messaging since they would rather promote their email service?

If another board copied some of SI's way of posting messages to one another, would they be sued? It pays to get things right from the get go, that made Brad and Jeff millions of dollars. Now if SI would start making other chat sites with this technology they would really be onto something. There are a number of chat topics that I believe would be very successful with this interface.
