There is a balance. The right to free speech does not trump all other rights in the constitution- and compelling interests certainly do play a role in the way the justices decide a case. Are you under the impression that free speech automatically wins no matter what the compelling interest of the state might be, and no matter what other rights might be in play?

I do not think the court would hesitate a moment to see a compelling state interest in prohibiting Nazi clubs on public schools premises. Address this hypothetical- are you in any doubt how the court would rule based on case law?
