"Our" excess production of beets and cane? Who said anything about it being ours? Have never heard or read of anyone who thinks we even HAVE an excess of sugar cane or sugar beets. The stuff doesn't grow well in most US type conditions.

The cane or beets would probably need to come from the Carribean or South America, and it would probably make the most sense to process it near where it is grown, or during transport.
