Looks like the Israelis are finally recognizing that retaliation doesn't deter, that it is in fact counter-productive as it results in sympathy for its enemies, and that their only options are to use absolutely overwhelming force or sue for peace, an option which is impossible given the commitment to destroy Israel.

I agree that the destruction of Lebanon's transportation system is designed to cut off supplies to Hizbollah, and that a ground invasion will follow which will be absolutely devastating. The only question I have is whether Syria will also be attacked. {edit- And whether Iran will be involved militarily.}

God help us.

It is going to hit the fan, especially if Iran gets involved. This time Israel cannot rely on its enemies' lack of competence. It is going to be a far bloodier conflict than ever before. And not one whose resolution I feel comfortable predicting.
