The Chinese are afraid of millions of starving Koreans pouring over the border into China. They want Kim Soon Il to keep there where they are.

I agree with you there LindyBill. I think too many nefarious plans are laid at China's door. It seems to me we should remember that they are predators just like everyone else. No more and no less. If they can grab a meal without expending too much energy they will.

Clearly they don't think NK would provide them much nutritional value right now... Possibly they are waiting for the US to pay them to swallow it up. But my guess is that they are really not interested in digesting any more "unfriendly" populations.

They have a huge mixed bag of sub-35 year olds to manage these days and I suspect their Tibet experience was the last expansion we'll see from the current generation of Chinese "leaders."

When the next crowd comes of age, without "knowing" the Tibet experience and imagining that its all as easy as Hong Kong when they grab the reins of government... then I might be a little concerned... if I started seeing a bunch of biographies of The Great Khan, instead of Chow Yun Fat or Bruce Lee, popping up at the Cannes Film festival.

Uh... The Great Khan bios starring Chow Yun Fat don't count... He's entitled to one of those. <vbg>
