Except for the brain dead partisans I don't think anyone believes in what Bush is doing. re: It sounded to me that he had already come to a conclusion and was promoting "progressive realism" as the solution. Realism, or realpolitik has worked well for us since WW2 <excepting Vietnam>. The neo's abandoned that course, and look at the mess we are in. This guy seems to have some good ideas... I'll let it go at that.
