Nikole > For her current bombardment by Hezbollah is not a big deal since she survived Leningrad siege by Germans in 1941-1943.

You make me laugh. That's like saying a heart attack is peanuts when you've had cancer!

> just proved again that Israel can not safely exist within its pre-1967 borders

Of course I understand the dilemma but what's the alternative -- permanent war?

Here are some crazy Israelis, or are they? For what it's worth, these are people for whom I have the highest admiration.

You wrote:"Just talked to my mother-in law : She is in Haifa For her current bombardment by Hezbollah is not a big deal since she survived Leningrad siege by Germans in 1941-1943."

Reading your post gave me chills! Your mother-in-law is, indeed, quite a survivor! Over a million died during the Nazi siege of Leningrad, most of starvation. The population experienced 900 days of horrible conditions, misery and deprivation, but they continued to fight back, against overwhelming odds, and were finally able to be victorious against the Nazi siege!

It is one of the most amazing stands ever taken against an enormously powerful enemy. That same kind of courageous spirit has also been in the souls of the Jews of Israel, and allowed the relately few Jewish families of Israel to defeat the enormous, combined Arab armies during the War of 1948

How old was she at the time? Does she ever speak about what she endured?
