If most people are like me, what they do with their computer is mainly surf the web. 5 year old hardware is plenty powerful enough to keep up with even a high speed internet connection.

The software guys need to come up with a new "killer app" that requires a hardware upgrade that we all can't live without. Or, the hardware guys need to come up with some tech gizmo we can't live without.
