Israel helped create Hamas and Hizbollah back in the 80s when taking out the PLO. Now they are forced to take out Hamas and Hizbollah. Problem is that they make more and more enemies from the collateral damage folks and those who watch war either in areas near them or on TV. Can walls and buffer zones protect israel from better missiles with longer ranges. Perhaps in Gaza but not in Lebanon. Whats needed there is a govt who partners with israel in controlling the radicals and disbanding the militias. I dont know how this war helps produce that outcome. The middle east continues to devolve regardless of the actions taken by israel or the US. The left may be right and the right may be wrong, certainly in the short run as all this conflict has not produce results in iraq and now perhaps in lebanon. For the long run, i dont have a clue how this gets any better.
