Is there a grand deal to be made with iran on the mideast or is the destruction of israel and the attainment of nukes all they are interested in. The poster Sun Tsu had some very interesting ideas on all of this that were different from ours. He thought all of this was caused by iranian desire to be accepted as a regional power and get the respect they felt they deserved. He also thought that they would be a good ally in the WOT against Al Quaeda.
Bush was right. This stuff is hard and i dont think his team is up to the task. Blaming syria for all of this in the live mike episode was way too simple an explanation although no one doubts syria is a trouble maker.
