Chipmaker stock index falls to 14-month low

Marketwatch - July 18, 2006 1:53 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell to its lowest level in 14 months during trading Tuesday, dropping under the 400-point level for the first time since early May 2005. In recent trading, the index traded at 396.21, down more than 10 points. The index consists of 19 chipmakers including Intel Corp. , Texas Instruments Inc. , Advanced Micro Devices Inc. , and Broadcom Corp.

And quite possibly one day ahead of an earnings report slaughter. Could be sucking investors in at 18 so they can dump on the way down to 15's by Friday.
