Once both sides know that the US won't come in and 'save' them

That is not yet known.

I know. That's what they are expecting. I am suggesting we do the opposite and walk away from the mess. Let them work their problems on their own. Its too much of a known game now.

Once Americans are evacuated from Lebanon then the attacks may change in an effort to bring Syria and Iran into the conflict. That puts the U.S. forces in Iraq right in the sucker position.

That's another thing that is so typically American. The French and the Brits had ships into Beirut evacuating their people yesterday morning Lebanon time. By last nite Lebanon time, the Americans hadn't done squat.

If you've ever overseas, and you need help and you're an American, everyone knows the American embassy will do little for you. We would always go to one of the Scandanavian embassies first.....usually the Swedes. And then after them, the next choice was the Brits. Not only were they more likely to help you than the American embassy but they were always a lot more sympathetic.
