Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "Carl.. IMO, this war is not going to end until either the Lebanese army deploys along the Israeli border and acts to disarm Hizbullah, or a UN multi-national force AUTHORIZED TO UNDERTAKE THE DISARMAMENT, is deployed."

You're being silly here. The IDF couldn't disarm Hezbollah over an 18 year period. Certainly the Lebanese army couldn't do it. In addition to not having the means, they probably don't have the inclination. They don't like Israel either.

And do you really think a UN multi-national force "AUTHORIZED TO UNDERTAKE THE DISARMAMENT" is going to deploy to Lebanon? What a fool. This reminds me of back early in the Iraq war when you said that the UN was going to stick it out. I told you that they were going to run and weren't going to come back until it calmed down, which would be after the US left. Now it's 2006, and still no UN.

Israel escalated this thing without a plan. Now they have no reasonable continuation. Unsurprisingly, bombing the Lebanese didn't make them into allies against Hezbollah. And Hezbollah DIDN'T SURRENDER AFTER 18 YEARS OF OCCUPATION, WHY SHOULD THEY DO IT NOW?

You're in dreamland. Hope is not a plan.
