There's a lake up in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness area called "Old Man Lake." It got its name from the Nez Perce, who left their old men there on the way to the buffalo and trading over in Montana, and berry picking up in the high country.

It is a fine place for old men, but I was half my present age when I camped there and I have to hand it to any one who could get there.


No Country for Old Men should be out next year:
