"It's been 1766 days since Bush said he'd catch Osama bin Laden 'Dead or Alive!'

OBL remains 'wanted dead or alive', on the run, sick with kidney ailments, and in hiding. His time will come like every other criminal on the run. Anyone who thinks the 'dead or alive' statement means Bush will mount up and go on the hunt personally isn't being rational. It reasonably means he wont be able to rejoin mainstream society without getting busted. If he dies in hiding that seems to end the hunt satisfactorily.

The only way I can imagine the 'catching' thing to fail is if OBL dies and his followers bury him in an obscure grave without disclosing his demise. That poses a problem for both sides. It is hard to martyr a dead man who is obscure or to declare him defeated; although, it might help his followers to invent legends about him.
