I'm not going to wade into any discussion of Zionism but clearly something has totally warped the perspective, logic, and compassion of a lot of people. It is as if a lot of people have been brain-washed to constantly think only and exclusively of Jewish people as victims, to demonize Arabs, to greatly exaggerate the threat that Israel faces from its neighbours, to believe that for some reason Canada and the US have an interest and obligation to support Israel, to belittle the United Nations as an organization formed to prevent war and protect the rights of innocent civilians, and to ignore the Geneva Conventions. This can only come from the media. If I turn on Fox News or read the National Post, I can tell something is very wrong. We all need to read some George Orwell. I start thinking of Animal Farm -- "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.", or 1984 where Winston Smith is led to question the self-evident logic of whether 2 + 2 = 4.
