Education is basic. Taxes should go to public schools which are governed by more basic principles like separation of church and state. I don't want to see taxpayer money go to support private tollroads either. It should be used only for public thoroughfares. Medicare overhead 2% Private insurance profit, overhead, garbage 20% If the private and monopolistic AMA would get out of the way, we might have decent healthcare as well rather than the dismal, expensive chaotic mess we are saddled with. SS - one of the best programs ever. Ditto the interstate highway system and the park system. I'm not sure about the space program but, heck, it may be of benefit in the far distant future. Exactly how well did Custer Battles and KBR do in Iraq? Steal much? Fail to do their job much? It's laughable what rightwingers call private enterprise. It's a chaotic mess. Then again, rightwinger government is also a chaotic mess so, in rightwingerville maybe there's no real difference...it's all grossly incompetent. Now that private companies have gotten their mitts on Medicare, it will likely go down for the count. Instead of making it more efficient, they made it a bloated mess based on gambling over prices and forcing the government NOT to negotiate. Rightwing capitalism = massive corruption.
