Bush handed Dems a huge issue with his Stem Cell veto. While there are certainly 10% of the country who are ignorant or superstitious enough to believe emybryonic stem cells are "people", there shoulds be 90% who realize that Bush has just shafted a sick person in almost every family in American, given the Chinese a headstart on the next great technology and pushed research into private hands where no ethical standards at all need to be followed. Bush did use his religious fanatic base to help win past elections (as well as gross cheating) but this time it's really gonna hurt him, and everyone who voted with Bush, like George Allen, Jim Talent and other vulnerable senators.
