re: Since you grew up in the 60's and in Chicago, you probably have a pretty good distrust of politicians and big government.

And a healthy sense of the absurd.

One thing about Chicago ("The City That Works") is that when it didn't work there was no hesitation to throw the bums out (see Michael Bilandic and snow storms).
