"WHY DID THEY ATTACK US? WHAT DID THEY HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH?" Very good question?..in war one needs to understand one's enemy! Maybe they want to control the mideast oil basin and its long term value for the local ordinary people? Maybe they knew that the US had a vulnerable leader(ship)that would overreact as has happened triggering a potential revolution in the Mideast? But only if it was a big enough event to catch the attention; like bringing down the World Trade center; hitting the Pentagon and almost the Whitehouse If so (from their point of view) they did a heck o fa job didn't they?
