i expect republican senator found his way through a little guidance from republican party and white house.

He was the notorious hold-out that caused the nomination to be held up, and Bush to go to a recess appointment. A major breakthrough for him to reverse himself.

Plus the obvious continued UN failures make it very difficult for a Dem Senator to oppose Bolton now.

Voinovich sees the light

Crying George, who sobbed about leaving his grandchildren a UN ambassador like John Bolton, is now on board. He writes today in the Washington Post about why he's planning to vote for Bolton when the President renews his appointment. In a very self-admiring way, he has decided that, while his reservations were totally noble before, Bolton isn't as bad as he thought.

Voinovich is a bundle of pomposity, but it's nice to have him on board. I hope the Democrats can learn from his example and speed through the renomination of one of the best UN ambassadors we've ever had, but I am not optimistic that they would let good common sense override their partisanship.
