The ability of gay people to marry the people they love has been denied them by the state. Where the state gives a benefit to one group of people and not to another, the machinery of the state is involved- just as it was when blacks and whites were not allowed to marry.

You could argue, of course, that the "will of the people" should allow a state to disallow people of different colors from marrying, and that the plaintiffs were using the machinery of the state to remedy this (where they did try)- but as you and I both know when prejudice keeps people from their rights, the only redress is the courts. This thread is not a forum for people who want to argue for bigotry. I think I mentioned that right up top. Just as I wouldn't sponsor a forum for people who wanted to argue blacks should bend to the "will of the people" when their rights were/are taken away, I can't stomach reading it about gay people either. There are many forums that will welcome your anti-gay rhetoric- carefully worded, or in a more pungent form, as you've expressed it elsewhere. Please go post to someone who might find you tolerable- unfortunately there are plenty of people out there who will. I just can't understand why you would come here. Just wanted to argue your anti gay agenda? Do it elsewhere.
