While the rest of Iraq goes crazy, the Kurds have been jailing non-Kurds and trying to take control of the northern oil fields so they can declare independence in 8 years. Perhaps they seem themselves as an incredibly wealthy sheikdom in the future.

I thought it was your ilk who thought we should support creating states based upon such Ethnic enclaves??

Because all I hear from folks like you is that the Palestinians should have their own state and the Israelis shouldn't be occupying them... (even though I still can't figure out what defines being a "palestinian" as opposed to being an Arab, or a Jordanian)

But the Kurds, who have been forced to live divided between 4 different countries, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria, AND REPRESENT ONE OF THE LARGEST COMMON ETHNICITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST, are denied even one word of support.

My statement suggesting that the Kurds are playing a dangerous game is an objective statement. I neither support, nor refute, the concept of Kurdish statehood. This is something they will have to either negotiate, or fight for, themselves. And they will have to bear the repercussions of the path they set forth upon.

This is why I'm not in favor of creating arbitrary states along ethnic borders.

And btw, this problem between the Kurds and their Arab "bethren" existed LONG BEFORE the US ever became involved. And it's going to exist long AFTER the US leaves the region...
