Both sides are carrying a lot of baggage and tendency of some people to white wash Israel's position and ignoring altogether the reasons why US is seen as complicit in every thing that happens in that region. Bottom line, nothing will change unless US put some equal pressure.. Any thing less, Israel feels quite free to do what ever it wishes and rest of the gang there feels, since they don't have any resources and army to speak of, so it will be more of the same.. generation after generation.. One of these days some thing really ugly is bound to happen.. yet again..
