North Richland Hills lands on livable-city list

A low crime rate, quality schools and affordable housing make North Richland Hills one of the best cities in the country to live in, according to Money magazine.

The suburb came in at No. 62 and is the only Tarrant County city to make the top 100. The magazine will hit newsstands Monday.

"I knew we had a great city," Councilwoman Suzy Compton said. "But when you think in terms of the entire country, this is pretty big."

The magazine also recognized Plano (No. 11), Carrollton (No. 19) and Denton (No. 58).

Researchers began with a list of 745 cities. They then ranked places based on crime rates, schools, open space, ample jobs, affordable housing and area activities, such as movie theaters, museums and golf courses.

The winner? Fort Collins, Colo., which has 13 ski resorts within 100 miles.

How does North Richland Hills compare?

Well, no ski resorts. But the city has 95 golf courses within 30 miles. Fort Collins has only 19.

"It's all about quality of life," City Councilman Tim Welch said.

Chispas or someone can you tell me if this displays OK.
It looked really screwy in preview mode but OK after I published it but some of the text is a bit too small.

There are some issues in blogger for sure regarding some of that HTML that I clipped.

These are by permission from Minyanville.
