Do you have an authoritative source for this? Sounds like neo-con conjecture to me, much like the urban myths about the Iraqi threat.

And the US supplied weapons to both Iraq and Iran and was in fact advancing Iran's nuclear capability under Shah Reza... what goes around comes around I guess....
