I think when you look at a site like PC universe and do a real time inventory, they are showing inventory from a network of regional warehouses. Some of these are 3rd party and some owned by apple. Oppenheimer mentioned these yesterday when he said there are 1700 distribution points.

Using this site for reference, they had 182 of these Macbook Pros in stock the last time they checked and then a real time says there are 160.

I think apple has possession of the 182 MBPros and the sell through is 22 units, thats what was recognized in Q2 numbers but the shipments of the total units are why Gartner says apple got 12%. Thats for the channel.

Stuff that goes to Amazon or Best buy gets recognized right away I think.

The takeaway is that there is a lag in revenue recognition to shipments.
